As managing partner, Michael Shanahan oversees a team of financial specialists who collectively address the complex needs of our business owner and corporate executive clients. Michael delivers a wealth of experience and know-how to our clients as he specializes in:

In 2017, Michael was selected by Investment News as one of its top “40 Under 40” financial professionals. This national award recognizes 40 financial advisors based on their industry leadership, accomplishments and contributions. Michael was also named to the Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Advisors for 2020 in Southern California list. Only 80 advisors were selected for this honor in Southern California.

Michael has extensive experience in financial services having previously worked with SunTrust Bank, Credit Suisse First Boston Direct and Thompson Financial Group before forming Overland & Shanahan Wealth Advisors in 2003. Michael is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practitioner (CFP®) as well as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®). He holds additional securities registrations through LPL Financial, as well as life, health, annuity and long-term care insurance licenses (California Insurance License #0D39726).

Michael is a graduate of The University of Alabama and enjoys golf, traveling with his wife and learning about wine. He supports numerous charitable organizations including Scripps Hospital, Kitchens for Good and the Alzheimer’s Association. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors (Treasurer) for a local non-profit, Cane Cares.
